Current Exhibition of Local Talent Mandisi Ndlovu

We are proud to exhibit emerging local artist:  30 year old Mandisi Ndlovu who resides in Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg bay. It is rare to find an artist with such a peaceful, friendly and humble nature creating the most vivid paintings full of light, vibrancy and movement. Hailing from Bulawayo, Matebeleland South, the young Mandisi used to draw portraits of sportsmen, cars, wildlife, patterns, buildings, imaginary creatures and historical figures. "Apart from playing rugby at a young age, I had a small circle of friends and spent most of my time on my own studying, training or creating art. My mother was one of my first inspirations as I would watch her put hours of work into her craft, designing and knitting table cloths. I used pencil and ink as I couldn't afford art materials and even used clay to make sculpture. I would draw whatever I could think of and would use anything I found to turn into art." Some of Mandisi's early artwork is still on display at the Natural History Museum in Bulawayo. Life led Mandisi to Johannesburg where he lived for some years before moving to Plettenberg bay in 2011. He also journeyed in art through self guided learning with sketching in charcoal and ink until he 'fell in love' with painting in acrylic and oil in 2019.
"To me art is a form of therapy and self reflection. When I start a piece I go directly and apply those emotions without really restricting myself. I just pour my heart out in colour and as it goes the art piece will direct me where to take it. I cannot stop learning in art. I see and discover such beauty in art around me" says Mandisi whose motto is "You can lead the life you love".
